Volunteers Are Needed To Help Get The Word Out!
In Order For Hunt For The Hungry To Be More Successful, We Need A Dedicated Group Of Volunteers That Believe In This Program, And Are Willing To Put In Some Time To Inform And Encourage Others To Get Involved. There Is Strength In Numbers. Please Consider Donating Some Time This Fall!
The following counties participate with Hunt For The Hungry for the benefit of needy families in each of these counties; They includes the counties of Brown, Marinette, Oconto, Door, Kewaunee, Outagamie, Manitowoc, Shawano, Calumet, Waupaca, and Winnebago. Drop off/venison processing sites are located in all these counties. Volunteers will be needed from all these counties to spread the word about Hunt For The Hungry!
WE WILL NEED VOLUNTEERS TO:
- Distribute and display posters, flyers, bumper stickers, and other visual promotional items.
- Represent Hunt For The Hungry at upcoming deer hunting shows, hunting and wildlife association banquets, or hunting club events, by passing out promotional materials and information about the program.
- Set up contacts at all local newspapers around the area. The Green Bay Press Gazette and News Chronicle are ready to run articles on the program. If you would have contacts at your local papers, or know of hunting magazine editors who could run an article for the program, please let us know.
- Establish contacts at other media outlets including TV and Radio. The Green Bay stations have already been established and are ready to run spots and reports on the program.
- Line up the rental or donation of the use of refridgerated trailers to provide additional cold storage capability to hold donated deer. These trailers could be set up at key registration sites or at the listed drop off sites to provide additional and more convenient drop off locations as well additional cold storage to hold deer until our processors can get at them. The nine day gun season usually is the crunch time for our processors. We don't want to turn deer away from hunters who want to donate, because lockers are full at processing locations. A warm gun season could cause this potential problem to occur.
- We would need volunteers to encourage their local hunting clubs and organizations to consider making a cash donation to help pay for the administrative and promotional costs at Hunt For The Hungry. See the Menu Item "Cash Donations" for more details.
We would need to have our volunteer team in place by September 1, 2008. This is when we plan to move forward with our full scale efforts to promote the Hunt For The Hungry program, prior to start of bow season. If you can share some of your time to help others in need, please call or write Lee Dudek so he can coordinate the volunteer team:
